Burn Center Facing Major Budget Cuts

The Burn Center at Stony Brook University Hospital is facing major budget cuts. The executive board of SC Volunteer Fire Fighters Fund recently received a request from Stony Brook University Hospital for help. The Governors Planned Budget cuts will create a possible $42 million dollar budget gap in Stony Brook University Hospitals budget over the next several years. Unfortunately, these cuts will hurt specialty units such as the Burn Center.

We need people to write and call their state legislators. We need to let them know that any cuts to the Burn Center are unacceptable. The Burn Center is the only one serving Suffolk County's 1.5 million residents.

Please pass this on to any firefighters and EMS people that you know. Download a sample letter that you can print out and use as well as a list of Suffolk County State Legislators. We need your support to keep the Burn Center open.

Hear What Our Clients Have to Say

"Having attended numerous trainings over the past 20 years of service, I can honestly say that your training provided the most realistic scenarios for our members. I personally know that each member walked away with many new skills. The instructors of Long Island Rescue were extremely knowledgeable and knew how to motivate and inspire. They taught by example and were not hesitant to get down and dirty with the men, a trait that is all too often not seen with instructors. We are eager to train with Long Island Rescue again in the near future and once again extend our gratitude to you and your instructors for the tremendous impact you've had on our department." - Rich Cafarelli, 1st Assistant Chief, Holtsville Fire Dept. (NY)
