Driver Makes His Own Drive-Thru at KFC
On April 2, 2008 the Brookhaven Technical Rescue Task Force responded to a vehicle into a structure, with structural damage. This incident occurred at the Kentucky Fried Chicken on Montauk Highway and Phyillis Drive in North Patchogue. A Level IV response was activated. Task Force Manager Randy Miller assumed Rescue Ops Officer, while Task Force Liaison Bill Xikis assumed the Staging Area officer. He was later relieved by Task Force Manager Lisa Buchter of SUNY SB FM. Task Force Leader DiBernardo coordinated the shoring operation with Task Force Manager Miller and Patchogue Fire Department command. Two 2 post vertical shores were erected to stabilize the roof trusses and a 'T' shore was use to stabilize a concrete block column that was knocked down by the vehicle. One civilian, the driver, was extricated and flown to SBUHMC in serious condition. The operation concluded and the Task Force demobilized within 90 minutes. |
